Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation announced earlier this week that housing starts in the Lethbridge area are already off to a good start for 2015.
Developers started 32 units last month (including single family and multifamily units), compared to only 26 in January 2014. The City of Lethbridge alone issued 30 building permits (25 single family and 5 multifamily).
For all of 2014, the final tally for building permits was 414 single-family homes; 35 duplexes; 14 apartment, townhouse or condo projects; and 2 manufactured home installations. If the growth seen last month continues throughout 2015, we might even see permits break the 500 mark.
