Home construction in the Lethbridge area is on the rise, the opposite of what most of Alberta is experiencing.
CMHC recently released a report that indicated that the City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County saw 455 homes started in the first 6 months of 2015, up from only 305 in the first 6 months of 2014. If the trend continues, we could pass the 900 mark by the end of the year.
Housing starts were evenly split between single family and multifamily units (253 and 202 respectively).
While Edmonton saw significant increases, too, most other major areas (Calgary, Red Deer, Fort McMurray, Medicine Hat, and Grande Prairie) were lower than this time last year.
